As promised following on from last week’s fabulous announcement, here are the details of the next steps in the process to mark the next chapter for the site now it’s protected for us all.
You will be now given the opportunity to put your suggestion forward for the renaming of the site. Can we please ask that we keep this sensible. If you are not sure what to suggest, some names put forward so far are ‘Green Fields’ ‘Flixton Country Park’ ‘Wroe Green’ ‘Green Park’ ‘Flixton Green’ so you see how it works. So go on put your ideas forward and if you don’t want the name changed, then you can put that forward as well it’s up to you. It would also be helpful if you could please also add a little explanation with your suggestion.
Please send your suggestions to info@flixtongreenforall.org
The opportunity to take part opens from today Tuesday 10th and runs until Monday 16th September inclusive and by email only as comments are turned off on here.
After submissions are closed, the Council and the Flixton Green for All group, will decide on three entries to go to the public vote that best represent the site. The three final names will then be presented to the public, who will make the final decision in a vote running from 30 September to 11 October.
The result of the re-naming is set to be announced during the week commencing 14 October, will be followed by the unveiling of a sign on site to mark and celebrate the site’s protection with the wording “Protected Forever with Fields in Trust – Green Spaces for Good” ahead of the October half-term holidays. Additional signs featuring the new name will also be installed. Dates and times to follow.
